Our program provides a culturally grounded early learning experience rooted in Lakota language, family engagement, and whole child development. We nurture each child emotionally, socially, spiritually, and academically through daily Lakota language immersion, community-centered teaching, and strong family partnerships.

Goals of the FACE Program

Our FACE & Lakota Immersion Pre-K works to:

  • Support parents and caregivers as their child’s first and most influential teachers

  • Increase family literacy and learning in both home and school environments

  • Strengthen family–school–community connections grounded in Wolakota

  • Identify early developmental needs and connect families to school-based support services

  • Increase parent participation in their child’s learning and daily routines

  • Celebrate and sustain our cultural and linguistic identity, ensuring Lakota language and culture are present in everyday learning

  • Promote lifelong learning for both children and families

Program services integrate Lakota language and culture intentionally in two settings: home and school.

What Makes Our Program Unique

  • Lakota Language Immersion: Daily language through songs, stories, routines, conversation, and play.

  • Nationally Recognized Curriculum: A research-based early childhood curriculum known for producing strong kindergarten readiness.

  • Assessments & School Support Services: Ongoing student assessments and access to school-provided developmental supports ensure each child stays on track.

  • Small Class Sizes: More individualized attention and gentle guidance.

  • Trauma-Informed & Healing-Oriented: Safe, predictable routines grounded in cultural values.

Eligibility

Children must be:

  • 4–5 years old, or

  • 3 years old but turning 4 by December
to enroll in our Lakota Language Immersion Pre-K classroom.

Choosing our program means choosing language, culture, and a strong start for your child, all rooted here in our community.
